Summary of Dotcom Secrets:

Dotcom Secrets is a quick read with only 236 pages in length and the first book of a trilogy. The book highlights the importance of building a solid sales funnel for your online business.

These sale funnels will take your traffic and convert your customers into a sale. Many internet marketers are so focused on trying to gain more traffic but oftentimes they neglect the other half of the equation.

While growing your traffic is good, what’s equally important is having a solid sales funnel inorder to convert those customers into a sale.

Russell explains and walks you through the three different strategies of a good funnel system:

  1. a traffic strategy
  2. a product strategy
  3. a communication strategy

Who is Russell Brunson:

Russell is the co-founder of a company called “ClickFunnels” and managed to grow his business to an overwhelming $100 million in its first year and at the moment “Clickfunnels” has over 100 thousand active users.

To date, Russell has had more than 1000 of his students become millionaires through his training and software. These people are now part of an exclusive club called the “Two Comma Club”. Russell also gives back by donating $1 to build schools in Africa every time a funnel goes live.

Chapter Overviews:

Chapter 1: Value ladder and Funnels

Russell explains that a value ladder is a visual representation of how you could be offering more products to your customers.

The main concept behind the value ladder is to offer your customer something at a low price point and then once you have established a connection with your customer you offer them something at a higher price point.

Of course not all customers will buy both products but a fair number of customers will.

Russell goes on to explain his process through the use of several examples.

Chapter 2: Your communication and follow up Funnel

As your traffic grows along with your customer base it’s a good idea to start an email list and start collecting emails. When you have an email list it’s important to communicate with your audience effectively.

With proper communication your customers will actually open their emails and see the offers you are trying to offer to them.

In order to be able to communicate with your audience better you need to follow Russells attractive character strategy, split into 4 parts:

  1. Backstory – Share your story. This will create an emotional attachment towards what you have gone through and where you are now.
  2. Speak in Parables – Using stories to convey a message is the perfect way to communicate with your readers.
  3. Share Character Flaws – Tell people what you are not good at or any flaws you may have that will make you come across more relatable.
  4. Harness the Power of Polarity – Take a stand and share what you believe and stand for. Don’t be afraid to pick a side and stick with it.

Chapter 3: Funnelology Leading Your Customers To The Sale

Sales funnel and ad campaigns is a 5 part step you need to follow:

  1. Demographics
  2. Offer
  3. Landing Page
  4. Traffic Source
  5. Ad Copy

Russell goes in depth about each of these topics within this chapter and also talks about the power of “funnel hacking”. This is basically taking someone else’s funnel who’s already converting and then re-engineering it to fit your customer base.

He also covers the psychology behind the sales funnel and getting customers for your business.

Chapter 4: Funnels and Scripts

The 7 different types of funnels you can get are:

Funnel 1: Two-Step, Free-Plus-Shipping

Funnel 2: Self-Liquidating Offer

Funnel 3: Continuity

Funnel 4: The Perfect Webinar

Funnel 5: Invisible Funnel Webinar

Funnel 6: Product Launch

Funnel 7: High-Ticket, Three-Step Application

For each funnel type Russell gives an explanation based on his experience of putting each of these funnels into motion.

Chapter 5: Clickfunnels

Russell talks about Clickfunnels itself and why it’s so good and how it can take your business to the next level.

Pros:

  1. Learn how to build great sales funnels that convert for your business.
  2. Understand strategies such as the value ladder which will make you more money faster.
  3. Become a leader within your industry by out performing your competitors.

Cons:

  1. In order to put Dotcom Secrets into action you would already need to have a business in order to implement the strategies taught.

Conclusion:

Overall I think you should buy “Dotcom Secrets” here as it is a great book for any entrepreneurs looking to grow their business.

The contents and steps Russell provides are easy to follow however just keep in mind that in order to implement his strategies you would need to have an existing business.

Another tip is because the book is an easy and short read, but some of the contents are slightly more difficult to follow, reading through the book a second time allows you to understand those concepts more easily.
